Newquays business community start fund for Gilbert

In response to reaction from the town’s business community on the shocking attack on local resident Gilbert Wilton, the Newquay Chamber of Commerce and Tourism have opened a fund for donations to support Gilbert’s recovery.
Andy Weir, chair, said ‘At the monthly meeting of the Chamber held last Thursday members indicated their wish to do something positive about the situation. Many of our members know of Gilbert, who is one of the town’s notable residents, and are shocked and appalled about the attack on him in his home. As the trade body for the town, we felt we could consolidate that response from the business community into action to raise money towards supporting Gilberts recovery’.
Any business wishing to make a donation can do so by cheque (made out to NCCT), posted to NCCT Secretary, Twenty Twenty Marketing, Hendra, Newquay TR8 4NY, or a cash or cheque donation can be handed in to Jess Parkin (NCCT Executive member) at Johnny’s Tobacconists in Bank Street.
