Jane Henderson, Chief Executive of the South West of England Regional Development Agency, said:

“The RDA welcomes the Chancellor’s forecast of continued economic growth for the country, which is good news for South West England. We particularly welcome the Government’s stronger commitment to decrease the persistent gap between the South West’s economic activity and the most prosperous regions of the country such as London and the South East, and the RDA’s role in helping to make this happen.

“We also welcome the announcements to reduce red tape for business and ensure there is greater coordination in skills provision.

“All these initiatives have the potential to make a real impact on the lives of everyone in the region.

“At the same time the Chancellor has announced that the RDA’s budget will be reduced. With that in mind we will be working hard to ensure that the impact on deliver for South West England is minimised.”
