Companies in the UK must include certain regulatory information on their websites and in their email as of 1st January 2007 or they will breach the Companies Act.
Recent changes to the Companies Act means that a company’s websites & email are now considered Business Stationery.
A company’s website & email must show in legible lettering: –
- its place of registration
- registered number
- its registered office address
- and if it is being wound up, that fact
It is sufficient to include the information on a company’s website “about us” page, and does not need to be included on every page.
As a rule of thumb: –
- A Company is registered at Companies House
- Any information that must be included in a business letter, must now be included in a company’s web site & email.
Further information can be found on the Companies House Website
