The Chamber seeks a new Chair!

Newquay Chamber of Commerce is departing from the norm and actively seeking a completely new face to lead the organisation into the future..

...rather than recruit from the ranks of their Executive in the traditional way. Andy Weir Chair said ‘We are putting together a new action plan for the future of the Chamber so we can be more proactive to the many changes taking place in the Newquay business community. Our Executive committee is made up of talented and committed local business people but, as with most organisations, the team is comprises the same dedicated people over time, so we have decided to be innovative and find a completely new face to take the Chamber forward!’ he added ‘We need a someone who is passionate about Newquay, a great team leader and enthusiastic about the business environment, they don’t need any committee experience, the Executive has plenty. This is a voluntary role and will mean a commitment in time but we are looking for someone to steer the ship, not man the oars, as our executive members champion individual projects and committees!’
Newquay Chamber of Commerce and Tourism is one of the longest established associations of its type in the UK and currently has over 140 members.

Are you the up for a challenge…....

You will be someone in business, probably as a senior executive or business owner, or even retired recently!
You will be at ease in all sorts of challenging situations and be able to talk confidently to others – business people, the press, officials, councilors, friends, and foe!
You will be able to lead the Executive team in formulating a new action plan for the Chamber and making sure things get done!
You will enjoy taking up any Chamber projects that interest you and representing the business community of the town at events and functions
There is no admin responsibility, this contracted out.
Individual Executive members champion individual projects and sit on the numerous outside committees – the Chair is not required to take up any of these responsibilities themselves unless they wish to.
